Directions: The new depot is actually a piece of empty land in front of the IPK that was tarred overnight. You can access it via Jalan Hang Tuah, opposite the old Pudu Jail or by Jalan Galloway, just before the Swiss Garden Hotel on Jalan Pudu.

Flip-Flop Update: At the last minute, the announced closure was postponed to an undisclosed date.

Yet Another Brainwave: It was reported that from April 12, all bus services to the north and the south operating from the Puduraya Terminal will operate from the Temporary Bus Terminal at Bukit Jalil (Parking Lot F - same as the one used for festive exodus). Info / Insights: The Puduraya Bus Terminal will be closed for about four months due to upgrading work, starting 19th March 2010. A temporary bus depot at Jalan Hang Tuah has been set up for southbound buses. For north-bound buses, passengers are directed to the remote Hentian Duta. Meanwhile, Hentian Putra will handle buses plying the East Coast states. A RM 2 shuttle service between Hentian Puduraya / Hang Tuah depots and Hentian Duta was announced in conjunction with the temporary closure.

The makeshift terminal may be walking distance from Puduraya but it is something you wouldn't want to attempt if you have heavy luggage or young children. The perimeter is all fenced up but hopefully someone sensible will open up a direct access to the LRT station outside. Otherwise, passengers boarding trains may require to walk another big round yet again.

As with most things temporary, giant white canopies (tents) will act as ticket counters and waiting areas. The roads in and out are quite narrow and congested as it is, so expect traffic to be chaotic.

Finally: After several postponements, the New Puduraya opens its doors on 16th April 2011.
