Directions: It is not exactly in Putrajaya. From Kuala Lumpur via the North South Highway, exit at the Kajang toll plaza and head towards Putrajaya via the tail end of the SILK Highway. Enter the slip road that runs parallel to the main road with the Petronas station and Uniten complex on your left.
Go straight (12 o'clock) at the small roundabout ahead. The restaurant is at the end of the road that rejoins the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) to Putrajaya & Puchong. When you enter the slip road you will see a workshop specialising in Alfa cars and a Hindu temple at the dead end.
Info / Insights: The rickety shop can't be Klang Valley's best kept secret. At lunch time, you are unlikely to find seating. The food is self-service and there are long queues during peak hours. Serving a special beriani recipe that originates from Johor, it certainly deserves its reputation as one of the best beriani rice this side of the world. Even tastier (and cheaper) than famous Syed's (opposite PJ Hilton).
Choose from large steel pots containing chunky beef, juicy chicken and tender mutton. The hearty meal might narrow your arteries but don't worry. Serdang Hospital is just across the road :) Prices average at about RM 10 per plate. There is a 5% govt tax in addition. (tax is no longer added as of last visit on Sept 2009) A previous signboard referred to itself as Nasi Beriani Gam Resipi Asli Batu Pahat Johor. Now there is no signboard on the shop but the receipt indicates Kafe Beriani Gam Putera-Jaya.
